Michael Seidl: Welcome to the next episode of the Get Shit Done in IT podcast. Today about the topic how to free up your mind and enjoy your free time. So the first and very easy advice from my side would be don't put too much stuff in your head so you don't have to free it up again. So easy said, but how to achieve that. In one of our previous episodes, I talked about to have a single source of all your to -dos and tasks. So you don't have to keep anything in your mind on your desk, what is blocking or messing up your mind and your head. So make sure you find one system to store all your things. all your to -dos, all your tasks, all your projects, all your reminders, all your appointments, whatever. So don't try to keep in your head that you have to call someone on Monday at ADM. For this, you can use a calendar. Okay, this shouldn't be placed in your head or stored in your head. So use your calendar. If you have things to do, you can... point on the time and on the day that use your calendar. And of course, also work with your calendar. I know a lot of people writing everything in the calendar or also in one global system or one single system, planning their day and the things and every single minute, but then not using that system. So just do anything else. So if you're already at that face that you have a single source and also using your calendar and your appointment, then stick on that plan and don't do anything. Don't do anything, but it's not planned or in your system. So of course it is in your daily business. There will be a lot of things and to do's coming up.

Michael Seidl: Beside your plan and and build a bill scramble up your plan and your to do's. But then you have a system and you can reschedule that what was in the original place and you can fill in the new things. But make sure that everything. Before you start to work is in your single source of things and your calendar and this planned and everything else is a site. So don't. Plan and waste your time planning your day and not sticking out and not following that plan. So have a single source of things, put everything in there and plan from that side. Don't try to keep anything in your head. So don't try to keep any appointments, any stuff, any meetings, any notes, any whatever in your head. Bring it into single source so it easier to free up your mind when it's not stuffed with with anything. Yeah. And one very important thing as well is to find something what is not related to your business or to your work. To just do something completely different. So in my example, I'm. sitting and working a lot at computers, notepads, notebooks, iPads, tablets, phones, whatever. The idea is also not only in the business side, so for my company, for my blogging, for my speaking. So for example, I also do a lot of home automation. So what is not really related to my work, but it's still on the computer, on the phone, on the tablet, whatever. So this is not really something else. It's just a different program, but it's still on the computer, on any electronic device with display. And this is not really, really...

Michael Seidl: something different. So in my case, it is doing sport. So that is completely without any IT beside my watch and tracking my progress and music. But there is no display, no whatever, looking at the phone. So this is completely different. And in my case, I do this at five o 'clock in the morning. So because when my older son was born, I had to decide when should I follow that sport and when should I do it. The idea was in the afternoon after work, but then I would miss a lot of time with my kids. Second option was to do it when my kids are in bed, but then I missed the time with my girlfriend. So I decided to stand up at 4 .42 and go to the gym at five for one hour. without any, any IT to be honest. Yeah. And I see that it really helps me to find a focus to, to find more, more energy to, to have a better concentration. So every time I do not follow that plan. So to do my, my sports in the morning for a longer time, cause I think I have too much to do and. do not sport, so I sit on my computer and do some work instead. I see that I'm less productive than without the hour of sports in the morning. So, and every time I have no passion standing up and go to the gym, I always remember that it helps and what it makes, how it... helps me to be more productive and this is a huge improvement or huge help to overcome those laybacks. So to summarize,

Michael Seidl: to free up your mind. Best is not to mess it up. So don't keep anything in your head. Try to find a single source where you can store all your things and to -dos and find something completely opposite to your work where your passion is. So in my case, it is sports and of course my kids. And I'm trying my best to... do those things without any IT and smartphones and whatever. It's not always easy, but I'm trying to do my best. So find something that is completely opposite from your daily IT. So I hope this helps you or if you tried, this helps you. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer this. So let's connect on LinkedIn and write me your question or send me a text message or voice message. And I would be happy to answer your questions in the next episode. And we are now at the end. So enjoy your day and bye -bye.
